Photopholyo.com is an image gallery website created by WebsContent Ltd that used the open-source gallery application “Coppermine”.

It is an excellent application that is very versatile and has many themes available for customisation and development.

The site was requested for desertmirages.com a private photographer who specialises in International School photography.

The requirements were very simple with functionality and reliability being absolutely vital. On launch, 1000 parents would be accessing the site to view their childs photographs. So it was paramount the site would be hosted in an environment that would handle the traffic and enable parents to make their purchasing decisions.

Security and privacy was also important so passwords were given to parents to enable only parents of the School to be able to view the images.

Importantly, because the profitability of the business depended on as many images being purchsed as possible the images were resized to a low resolution that was still clear but would not produce quality prints if they were downloaded. In addition the images were watermarked to ensure copyright was adhered to.

Overall the site was a complete success. Parents reported positive experiences on using the site and the photographer reported positive sales results.
