We are currently working on a range of development projects at the moment.
One of these is the development of a new brand to accompany WebsContent.
The idea is that the name Webscontent is rather dull and suffers from a “middle letter” problem. That letter being the “s” inbetween Web and Content.
If I had been the first internet person looking for a domain name to sell web hosting and design services I would have chosen WebContent.com
But I was beaten to it by an American company I know very little about apart from what they say on their website about them having created content for websites for the past 18 years.
So they beat me to that domain name and I’ve had to soldier on correcting people on this domain.
Looking for a new, fresh, original and distinctive domain name is now very difficult.
If you have tried to find THAT domain that you always wanted, you’ll know what I mean.
There are some options, such as using something other than .com but they are just not as popular.
So, the new brand I am working on will contain the name “mako” and then have an ending that is easily pronounceable, recognisable and actually means something.
In my hunt for this word ending, I tried a few and then thought about “hosting”.
and found something interesting about that word.
I used a web tool called http://www.nicetranslator.com which made this very easy. I would agree that it is well named, since it is “nice” and describes itself as ” The fast, easy online translator”
I searched for the word “hosting” in the following languages:
Afrikaans, Arabic, Bangla, Bosnian(Latin),Bulgarian, Catalan. Chinese | SChinese | TCantonese(Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Fijian, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Creole, Hebrew, Hindi, Hmong ,DawHungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kiswahili, Klingon,Klingon (pIqaD),Korean,Latvian,Lithuanian,Malagasy,Malay, Maltese, Yucatec, Maya, Norwegian, Bokmål, Querétaro ,Otomi, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Samoan, Serbian (Cyrillic), Serbian (Latin), Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Tahitian, Tamil, Telugu, Thai. Tongan, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, Welsh
So, as you can see, the word “hosting” actually translated into many different languages is mostly remained as “hosting”. (Why do the Welsh have to be different?)
The end result of this is that MakoHosting was born.
I bought the domain Makohosting.com and persuaded a young and friendly graphic-designer called Ruben Papp to have a go at creating a logo for this new name.
After a little sharing of concepts Ruben came up with this beauty:
And so a new snapppy hosting brand was born!
Will take a while for the new brand and website to grow but you are welcome to see how it is coming along at http://makohosting.com
When my original graphic designer Seb found out, he took a look, liked it but wasn’t sure about the tail. He thought Sharks tails are different and so he said he would have a go at making the tail more sharky.
If he does, I don’t know. I think it is pretty cool as it is but we’ll see what happens…
Keep an eye out for that tail!
